Without Ceasing

Every afternoon, I open my mic and ask for listeners to send in their song requests as part of the WFRN in the Midday All Request Lunch Hour. I go threw the various ways people can do this; by filling out a song request form on our website, by using the phone app, or by calling me up on the “old fashioned” phone line (I am among the few that still likes to use my phone to actually call people, by the way). I look forward to this time because I get to interact with you, and I love to do that. And I like being able to offer up something that will brighten your day. I love the interaction, as brief as it is, to get to know something about you.
Today, when I put out the call for requests, it wasn’t lost on me that the Lord feels the same way about me. Then I thought, man I’m glad I don’t need to go through that kind of trouble to make my requests known to God. I don’t need a special app, website or phone line to reach him. I simply need to talk to Him. And the amazing thing is…He already knows what I’m going to say, but He wants to hear it anyway.
The Bible tells us to pray without ceasing. That doesn’t mean we bow down on our knees with our eyes closed 24/7. That’s pretty impractical. But, if I simply talk to my Abba Father throughout the day, telling Him my requests and giving Him praise, that’s exactly what I am doing.
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
