Pay Attention.

Pay Attention. Specifically to things that grab your attention.

I believe that God gave me a gift for observation. I don’t really know how useful it is other than how well it seems to work with and complement other gifts that I have. Believe it or not, I’m NOT a natural talker. I tend to watch, listen, observe, and then eventually join-in with a thought or insight I decide was worth sharing. I actually don’t say a lot of what I think. Thank you, Lord, for the underappreciated gift of restraint.

Every now and then though, and this WILL happen to you too, something will unusually stick out to me. It could be something I see, it could be something someone says to me, it could be a song lyric that I see and understand in a different way for the first time, or other events that just grab my attention in a unique way. But those moments that seem to be unexplainably “distracting” to my normal flow of the day; pay attention to those. I really believe that God is speaking through that. He’s teaching you something. He’s communicating. He’s using all of the pieces He has already set in motion to clue you in on what He has for you.

This happened to me this morning. We were interviewing our morning show guest and for a quick moment, we locked eyes, and the following next few words she spoke just seemed to speak directly into an area of my life that she knew nothing about. It was as if God was dragging a bright yellow highlighter over the transcript of my day, in that very moment, as it was happening. I wonder how He’ll work through that? I hope to let you know!

So, if something grabs your attention this week- give it a second look. And ask God if that was for you.

I agree, a favorite saying on my work desk: We learn more by listening than we do by talking....anonymous

Have a great day. Jane

I've also read that "God gave us 2 eyes, 2 ears, and 1 mouth, to be used in that ratio"
