Living Your Faith Every Day: Being the Light Wherever God Has Placed You

It's easy to compartmentalize our faith.

On Sunday morning, we worship. We pray. We open God's Word. We spend time with fellow believers.

Then Monday arrives.

The alarm goes off, emails pile up, kids need to get to school, meetings fill the calendar, and before we know it, life is moving at full speed again.

But following Jesus was never meant to be something we practice only one day a week. Faith isn't confined to a church building—it shapes the way we live every day.

Whether you're a teacher, farmer, nurse, factory worker, business owner, retiree, student, or stay-at-home parent, God has placed you exactly where you are for a purpose.

"You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden." — Matthew 5:14

Your Mission Field May Be Closer Than You Think
When we hear the word "mission," we often think of traveling across the world. While God certainly calls some people to serve overseas, He also calls every believer to be a witness right where they are.

Your workplace.
Your neighborhood.
Your child's ballgame.
The checkout line at the grocery store.
The coffee shop you visit every week.

These everyday places are filled with people who need encouragement, kindness, hope, and truth.

God often works through ordinary conversations with ordinary people.

Faith Is More Than Words
Living your faith doesn't always mean preaching a sermon.

Sometimes it means:
  • Choosing patience when others are frustrated.
  • Offering grace instead of criticism.
  • Being honest, even when it's difficult.
  • Serving without expecting recognition.
  • Listening when someone needs to be heard.
  • Praying for someone who is hurting.

People notice consistency. They notice compassion. They notice integrity.

Long before someone asks about your faith, they'll often notice how you treat others.

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters." — Colossians 3:23

Sharing Hope Through Everyday Conversations
One of the biggest misconceptions about sharing our faith is that we have to have all the answers.

The truth is, most people aren't looking for someone with perfect words. They're looking for someone who genuinely cares.

Sometimes sharing your faith simply means telling someone how God has been faithful in your own life.

It might be explaining why you have hope during a difficult season.
It might be offering to pray for a coworker.
It might be inviting a neighbor to church or sharing a song you heard on WFRN that encouraged you.

God can use even the simplest conversation to plant seeds that grow for years to come.

The Little Things Matter
We often underestimate the impact of small acts of faithfulness.

A smile.
A handwritten note.
A meal delivered to someone in need.
An encouraging text.
A prayer offered in the middle of a difficult conversation.

These moments may seem insignificant, but God delights in using small acts of obedience to accomplish big things.

We may never fully know the ripple effect our kindness has on someone else's life.

One Community, One Purpose
Imagine what would happen if every believer across Michiana intentionally looked for one opportunity each day to reflect Christ's love.

Our schools would be more encouraging.
Our workplaces would be more compassionate.
Our neighborhoods would become stronger.
Our churches would become even more connected.
Our communities would experience the hope that only Jesus can provide.

That's the beauty of living our faith every day.

It doesn't require a stage.

It simply requires a willing heart.

Share Your Story

Throughout this series, we've celebrated the many ways God is working in our community through everyday people.

Now we'd love to hear from you.

How have you seen God at work in your workplace, neighborhood, or everyday life?

Maybe you had the opportunity to encourage someone. Maybe someone showed Christ's love to you when you needed it most.

Your story could be exactly the encouragement someone else needs today.

Share your story with us and encourage others in our community.

At WFRN, we believe that when we share stories of God's faithfulness, we strengthen one another's faith and remind our community that He is still working—in the big moments and the ordinary ones alike.
