NATIONAL

NIGERIA-- It was a scary weekend for Christians in Nigeria. Twin car bombs hit a Protestant church on Sunday after service, however, there are no reports on casualties. Nigerian officials say this is the second time a church is bombed in the same state.

If you'll be spending a few bucks through the computer today, make sure the website is secure! Cyber Monday is considered the biggest online shopping day of the year, but also the trickiest. FAITH

INDIANA-- A constitutional amendment banning gay marriage in Indiana could face its final legislative hurdle this session. Same-sex marriage is already illegal here in Indiana, but legislators overwhelmingly voted last year to put that ban in the constitution. It has to pass the House and Senate again in 2013 or 2014. This month‘s election brought the first suggestion public opinion on the issue, with Maine and Maryland becoming the first states to legalize same-sex marriage by referendum.

STATE/REGIONAL

INDIANAPOLIS-- An Indianapolis nurse midwife's license has been suspended after officials say she shuttered her business and left behind her patients' medical files. Officials say Barbara Ann Bechtel's license will be taken away for one year.

INDIANA-- A group of Hoosiers are back home after helping Sandy victims. The Incident Management Assistance Team took off November 11th to Long Beach, New York. They arrived 2 weeks after the disaster and found there was still no electricity or water. More than 25 companies are still closed due to Sandy according to AP.

INDIANAPOLIS-- If you want telemarketers to stop calling you, there's still time to add yourself to the list. The deadline to sign up on the Do Not Call registry has been extended until 11:59 tonight. It's designed to prevent legitimate telemarketers from calling or texting you.

INDIANA-- Black Friday giants weren't the only ones open.. Hundreds of local shops around the state offered deals as part of Small Business Saturday. The national event started in 2010. It's estimated that for every $100 spent at a local store, $68 return to the community.

NORTHERN INDIANA/SOUTHWEST MI, (MICHIANA)

ELKHART-- It took four fire departments hours to put out a blaze that destroyed an Elkhart County home. Officials say the fire broke out Sunday night in the 30800 block of Oaksprings Drive. The home is a loss but none of its residents were injured.

GOSHEN-– Investigators are trying to figure out what caused an old Goshen house to catch on fire Sunday morning. Firefighters responded to a call on North 5th Street, near Chamberlain Elementary School. They say the vacant house was in a historic neighborhood since most of those homes are over 100 years old.

FORT WAYNE-- A fire forced about 40 apartment residents in Fort Wayne from their homes Sunday. Fire officials say some people were on second floor balconies of the Baldwin Creek Apartments waiting to be rescued. No serious injuries were reported. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

LAPORTE— LaPorte's Municipal Airport is upgrading. Officials are adding lighting and expanding its taxi lanes to attract more traffic. They're also constructing a new shelter for a handful of planes that can't sit outside.

LANSING, MICH— Michigan's governor is heading to Canada to trade and regional cooperation. Republican Rick Snyder will adress the Canadian Council for Public Partnerships on key trading plans.

KALAMAZOO-- Kalamazoo Valley Community College is adding some new campus safety measures. The college is buying 150 emergency telephones for classrooms in the Texas Township and other campuses. The goal is to reduce the response time of public safety officers.

NORTHCENTRAL INDIANA

MUNCIE-- A Muncie man is in custody after trying to shoot a wall on Thanksgiving Day, but accidentally fired at himself and another. Family members say they tried to talk to 51-year old Mark Mathis out of such plan..he and the other were treated for their injuries.

CARMEL-- A Carmel man is behind bars for leaving the scene of an accident Saturday. Police believe 19-year-old Andrew Song lost control of his car on a roundabout and ended up in a retention pond. He was later found at a nearby residence.

MOORESVILLE-- Mooresville police and fire officials are investigating an early morning fire at Mooresville High School. Authorities say the fire was set in the hallway which set off the sprinklers and the alarm. They've identified a suspect after reviewing footage from a security camera. Classes are resuming as normal today.

WEST LAFAYETTE-- Purdue University has launched a national search for a new head football coach. Danny Hope was let go one day after defeating I-U and qualifying for a bowl game. The Athletic Director says attendance issues played a key role in the decision.

SPORTS

SOUTH BEND-- The Fighting Irish continue to make history. Notre Dame has been ranked first in both the current Bowl Championship Series standings and the current NC double A Grad Success Rate for football. That marks the first time in the history of both categories that any team has ranked atop both sets of standings.

SOUTH BEND— They're undeafeated-- I think you know who I'm talking about.. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 12 and 0, completed their first perfect regular season since 1988. They beat USC 22-13 Saturday so now they'll be hitting Miami to play in the national champtionship.
------------------------------
INDIANAPOLIS-- The Lucas Oil Stadium was busy Saturday with the state High School Football championships. The Lawrence Central Bears defeated Fort Wayne Snider for their first state title in class 5A. Cathedral took its 3rd consecutive title in 4A by beating Mishawaka. And Bishop Chatard took their 3rd 3A title as well a win over Hamilton Heights.

ELECTION RESULTS

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA

An Ohio victory allowed President Obama to get re-elected. Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Winsconsin were among battlegrounds that the president won. Romney captured a key victory in North Carolina. Obama now faces a partisan divide in Congress, with Republicans retaining House majority while Democrats keep control of the Senate.


U.S SENATOR:
VICTORY: DEMOCRAT JOE DONNELLY

The battle for U-S Senate is over in Indiana. Democratic Joe Donnelly won about 49% of votes over Republican Richard Mourdock who had about 46% of the votes. Libertarian Andrew Horning had 6% votes.


INDIANA GOVERNOR:
VICTORY: REPUBLICAN MIKE PENCE

Taking the governor's seat is Republican Mike Pence. He defeated Democrat John Gregg and Libertarian Rupert Boneham Tuesday. Pence, who's been in Congress for the past 12 years, took about 50% of votes..John Gregg had 46% and Boneham had 4%.


ATTORNEY GENERAL:
VICTORY: REPUBLICAN GREG ZOELLER

Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller will be back in office next year for his second term. Zoeller beat Democrat Kay Fleming easily with 58% of the votes. Flemming only had 42%.

SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION:
VICTORY: DEMOCRAT GLENDA RITZ

Tony Bennett is no longer the Superintendent of Public Instruction. Democrat Glenda Ritz pulled out the upset in the tight race. Ritz had 53% of votes while Bennett had 47%.


U.S REPRESENTATIVE- CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT 2:
VICTORY: REPUBLICAN JACKIE WALORSKI

Jackie Walorski claimed Joe Donnelly's seat in Indiana's second district. Walorski gained 49% of the vote, Mullen got 48% and Libertarian Joe Ruiz picked up the remaining 3%. She won by less than 4,000 votes two years after she lost to incumbent Joe Donnelly by about 2,000 votes.


CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT 1:
VICTORY: DEMOCRAT PETE VISCLOSKY

Representing Indiana's 1st congressional district is Democrat Pete Visclosky. The Democrat defeated Portage businessman Joel Phelps with about 67% of the votes. Phelps had 33% of votes. This will be Visclosky's 15th term.


CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT 3:
VICTORY: REPUBLICAN MARLIN STUTZMAN

Republican Marlin Stutzman will return to congress. Stutzman easily defeated his opponent- Democrat Kevin Boyd for Indiana‘s 3rd district seat which is the northeastern part of the state. He had about 72% of the vote.


CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT 4:
VICTORY: REPUBLICAN TODD ROKITA

Todd Rokita is also returning to congress. The Republican incumbent defeated Democrat Tara Nelson and Libertarian Benjamin Gehlhausen for the 4th district seat.


CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT 5:
VICTORY: REPUBLICAN SUSAN BROOKS

Representing Indiana's 5th district is Republican Susan Brooks. She had 58% of the votes while Democrat Scott Resk had 38%. Brooks says she plans to make the federal deficit a big priority to restoring faith in Congress.


MICHIGAN CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT 6:
VICTORY: REPUBLICAN FRED UPTON

Republican Fred Upton is going for a 14th term in congress. The republican representing Michigan's 6trh district defeated his Democratic challenger Mike O'Brien with with 60% of the vote. O'Brian had 42% vote.


OVERVIEW:
Republicans held on to their House majority, leaving Democrats pretty short of the gain of 25 seats they needed to take control. Republicans now hold a 240-190 majority in the House.

Same-sex marriage is set to become legal in Maine, Minnesota and Maryland. Washington also voted on the measure, but results are still not clear. If approved, they would become the first states to do so through the people's vote.
