SOUTH CAROLINA-- The Diocese of South Carolina has voted to secede from the national Episcopal Church. The Episcopal Presiding Bishop wrote a letter to leaders urging them to stay but the votes still overuled. This comes after disputes over ordination of gay clergy and acceptance of same-sex unions. It's the fifth Episcopalian diocese in the country to leave the church's national body.
