Damage from a major fire that destroyed part of the Tyson Foods meat processing plant near State Road 24 in Logansport is estimated in the millions of dollars, and because of it, production at the facility has come to a halt. Firefighters from Logansport, Peru and Monticello fought the blaze on Friday, and investigator Ted Franklin thinks the fire started near a series of processing ovens. Franklin says fire crews were hampered by collapsed portions of the building, cutting off access to the area of the fire. No employees were hurt, but one firefighter was hospitalized with a minor injury. Tyson Foods is the largest employer in Cass County, Indiana.
