Removing the Old Antenna
People from around the country came to WFRN on Thursday, December 16th, to start the replacement of our antenna and feed line. The first step: Remove the old antenna and feedline.

A local tow truck company is called in to unload the semi.

The reel containing the new feed line is gently set down at the tower base.

A large winch was brought in to handle the weight of the antenna being replaced.

The final section of the old antenna is lowered to the ground.

WFRN Managers Bob Dawson and Ed Moore inspect the damage.

The old antenna is inspected with the new antenna in the background.

When the antenna and feed line shorted out it melted a portion of the feed line (as well as the antenna - turned blue in the photos above).

The center core of the feed line is pulled up enough to see a hole that was burned clean through.
