As a public service to area churches and Christian organizations, WFRN sets aside a certain amount of time (and this webspace) for announcements of events which are of interest to all our listeners. The catagories are:
1. Church Events: This is a free event where a free-will offering may be taken
2. Community Events: This is a free event with no ticket charge. It may be a fund raiser with the proceeds going to a project within the community.
3. Community Service: Programs and services for which there is no charge for participation, such as homeless shelters, pregnancy centers, etc.

Friday, June 22 at the Elkhart County Park’s program, “Park in the Dark” will begin at 10pm at Ox Bow County Park in Ox Bow Haus Shelter. The interactive program will explore the ways our bodies adapt to different conditions and how darkness can sharpen the five senses we use every day.Activities will include a sensory night hike, fun optical illusions, and more.The program is free and open to all ages. Nearly 300 volunteers from more than 20 local companies along with many local residents will be mobilized to tackle volunteer projects at local social service agencies, schools and community organizations through United Way of St. Joseph County’s Day of Caring, held on Saturday, June 23, 2018. All interested persons, companies, and agencies may register by visiting uwsjc.org/dayofcaring. Deadline to register is June 16, 2017. Two and four hour shifts are available.

On Sunday, June 24 The Ripple Effect will be presenting a Christmas in June concert at First Baptist Church in South Bend. The program begins at 4:30 p.m. followed by a traditional carol sing-along, and the warm and spirited cantata, A Child This Day (complete with chamber orchestra).
