As a public service to area churches and Christian organizations, WFRN sets aside a certain amount of time (and this webspace) for announcements of events which are of interest to all our listeners. The catagories are:
1. Church Events: This is a free event where a free-will offering may be taken
2. Community Events: This is a free event with no ticket charge. It may be a fund raiser with the proceeds going to a project within the community.
3. Community Service: Programs and services for which there is no charge for participation, such as homeless shelters, pregnancy centers, etc.

The Lake County Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place on Sunday, Oct. 4, at Lake County Fairgrounds, located at 889 S. Court St. in Crown Point. More than 600 people in Northwest Indiana are expected at this year’s Walks to raise awareness and funds to fight Alzheimer’s disease.
