My Mom's Recipe for Sausage Cake

Sausage Cake

1 lb. bulk sausage (raw)
2 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1 c. raisins
1 c. warm coffee
1 t. soda
1 t. cinnamon
1 t. nutmeg
1 t. allspice
1 t. cloves
chopped nuts

Mix all ingredients for cake by hand in a large mixing bowl. Bake in a greased 9 x 12 pan at 350 degrees for 30 40 minutes (until toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out fairly dry).

Topping:
1 c. brown sugar
stick melted butter or margarine
c. chopped nuts
c. coconut
1 t. vanilla
6 t. cream

Spread evenly over cake. Broil a few minutes until light brown and bubbly.

(You can also use cream cheese frosting rather than the topping if you desire however, the topping makes it really yummy!)
