My Mom's Recipe for Sausage Cake |

Sausage Cake
1 lb. bulk sausage (raw)
2 c. sugar
2 ½ c. flour
1 c. raisins
1 c. warm coffee
1 t. soda
1 t. cinnamon
1 t. nutmeg
1 t. allspice
1 t. cloves
¾ chopped nuts
Mix all ingredients for cake by hand in a large mixing bowl. Bake in a greased 9” x 12” pan at 350 degrees for 30 – 40 minutes (until toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out fairly dry).
Topping:
1 c. brown sugar
½ stick melted butter or margarine
½ c. chopped nuts
¾ c. coconut
1 t. vanilla
6 t. cream
Spread evenly over cake. Broil a few minutes – until light brown and bubbly.
(You can also use cream cheese frosting rather than the topping if you desire – however, the topping makes it really yummy!) |
